What is Reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing system that uses the laying on of hands to transmit Universal Energy Healing. Reiki acts harmonizing all aspects of our being, the physical, mental and spiritual. Reiki works undoing where is disharmony and returning the health and well-being in every way. Also starts or accelerates healing processes and harmonizes the dysfunctions that we have. Besides its therapeutic aspect, Reiki is also a powerful tool for personal growth and evolution. It helps us to be better persons, to be happier and to find inner peace. Reiki is not a belief system or a religion, It is just a method of healing.

Life Energy

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese Kanji, and consists of two ideas: Rei means Universal Energy and Ki means Life Energy. The Universal Energy is the energy that is in the whole universe, the energy that surrounds us and nourishes life, permeating every being and everything that exists in the universe. Vital energy (called Chi in China, Prana in India or Ki in Japanese, etc.) Universal Energy itself is transformed into our own vibration. So, we absorb universal energy through our energy centers (Chakras) and turned it into our own life energy. Therefore, Vital Energy is our own energy, which flows through our energy system, becoming the fuel that drives us. So Reiki means Universal Life Energy directed intentionally.

Reiki Kanji

The Universal Energy has its own intelligence, the final analysis, is the energy that moves the whole universe, and when it is channeled through our hands, It knows where to go and how to act. Another special feature is that Reiki not only acts on the problem, also goes to the cause of it. All these qualities makes the Universal Energy of Reiki practice very simple. Reiki practitioner simply put their hands and let the energy do its work. You not have to do any diagnosis or know what the energy is exactly doing, we need only surrender to love to that person and let us go.

For a person who has not ever done Reiki can access this system of healing and personal growth they need to be initiated into Reiki. Once we have received initiation we become a channel of the Universal Energy. This means that when you put your hands to another person with the intent to do Reiki, Universal Energy will flow through us to that person, without having to do anything else. Therefore, we will not be who will cure anyone, but Universal Energy will happen through us. With the initiation we become a kind of hose, used for contacting the person who needs the Universal Energy. But we received an award for being channels,  as the energy passes through us, we also benefit from its properties and vibration. Normally at the end of a session of Reiki we are rested, full of energy and with a feeling of peace.

While channeling Universal Energy has been doing for millennia, the Reiki system began in the early twentieth century in Japan. The developer of this technique was a Japanese monk named Mikao Usui. Later this technique came to Hawaii and from there spread to the rest of the Western world.

Since 1995 the World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes Reiki as a complementary therapy to improve states valid for all kinds of diseases. Currently Reiki is used in many hospitals worldwide to support medical treatment.

Although It is not necessary to consider Reiki as a substitute for conventional medicine. Reiki is a therapy that combines well with allopathic medicine and alternative therapies such as Bach Flower, Gemotherapy, Phytotherapy, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Massage of all kinds, Meditation, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Yoga, etc. If you practice any of these therapies you will see how increasing his positive results when they are combined with Reiki.
